Stake Wars Phase 3 Blast Off! Call 🌱✨ Harvesting Resources

📅 On December 6th, we embarked on an exhilarating community call with the launch of Stake Wars Phase 3: Harvesting Resources. This milestone marked a pivotal shift in our Network’s potential.
🌟 Celebrating Our Stars
Justin Hill kicked off with a huge shoutout to our community heroes: .wezl, sparks60, xorinox, punkysishungry, jinhuanming, spirittt, .dragonp, mathematics2146, mpp4tunru, Lazy Penguin#1432, nakoturk, and many more! The time limit didn’t allow us to mention every superstar, yet we recognize their presence in the community and feel deep appreciation for their contributions. Their solid technical skills have always been a key part of our success.
🌐 State of the Network: Gemini 3g and Nova Update
Jim Counter shared insights on Gemini 3g and Nova, highlighting our network’s impressive growth and stability. It was a proud moment to announce Gemini 3G garnered impressive participation, with over 5 petabytes of space pledged.
Nova has also been making huge strides, with 149 operators and an impressive 311,000 tssc staked at the time of the call. The collaborative efforts of our community and core engineers have greatly improved the network’s integrity and functionality, creating a system that’s both resilient and less prone to errors.
🔗 Phase 3 — Harvesting Resources: A Game Changer
Jim also discussed the crucial role nominators play in Phase 3. Nominators provide support to operators, strengthening the cryptoeconomic security of our network and adding a new dynamic to our protocol.
When you nominate your stake, it combines with an operator’s stake. This increases the operator’s chances of creating bundles and earning transaction fees. The fees are then shared with the nominators. It’s a chance to both contribute to the network and earn a share of the rewards, drawn from a prize pool amounting to 0.6% of the total supply allocated to Stake Wars.💰

🛠️ Nomination How-To
Emil and Mark guided us through the details of how nomination works using both the Polkadot JS interface and the Subspace Staking Interface. The latter simplifies the process, making nomination easy, approachable, and accessible for everyone.
🔄 Live Update from Nazar
Our co-founder Nazar ran a runtime upgrade live on the call enabling nomination. We had a constant in the protocol which defines how many nominators can be added to a single operator. Until this call, it remained at zero. However, Nazar initiated a runtime upgrade right then and there, increasing this limit to 256 — the maximum number of nominators an operator can support.
It took Nazar a few seconds to send a link to the block in which the transaction went through in block 536,563.

The Future of Desktop Farming: Space Acres 🌾🖥️
On a special edition of our Developer Office Hours on December 13th, we unveiled Space Acres, an innovation in desktop farming from our co-founder Nazar

Jim shared his insights on the project’s significance in empowering more farmers to join our network. Since our incentivized testnet launch on September 6th, we have devoted a huge amount of effort toward refining our node running documentation. Our goal? To make farming as easy and accessible as possible.

The burning question of “When will the desktop farmer return?” received a proposition. Emil and Jim have brainstormed innovative ways to bring a user-friendly desktop farmer to life. Their ideas are coming to fruition with Space Acres, representing a significant move towards making farming more inclusive and efficient on Windows platforms.
🌟 Meet Space Acres:
Nazar, our co-founder, has developed a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of Space Acres. This ‘unofficial, opinionated’ Subspace farmer, compatible with Windows, greatly lowers the entry barrier for Windows-based farming. Its user-friendly interface displays the node syncing status and farming activities, making it perfectly suited for users with varying degrees of technical expertise.
